Dr Suraj A. Pandit is an archaeologist and art historian. Presently he is the Head of the Dept of Ancient Indian Culture and Dept. of Buddhist Studies at Sathaye College, Vile Parle, Mumbai. Dr Pandit works in the field of Buddhist Culture, Urban Archaeology, Archaeology of Religions, Art History, Heritage Tourism and Management. He is a trained archaeologist from Deccan College, Pune. After a Masters degree in Ancient Indian History Culture and Archaeology, he has completed a PhD from Mumbai University under the guidance of Dr A. P. Jamkhedkar on 'Kanheri Caves'. He also has a Masters Degree in Buddhist Studies from the University of Mumbai. He has various research projects, research and popular books and articles on his name. He has a teaching experience of around 20 years to the Undergraduate and Postgraduate classes. His site seminars are very popular among enthusiasts and students of archaeology, history and indology. This book is a translation of a series of popular articles he wrote on 'Cultural Heritage of Mumbai Metropolitan Region' in Marathi daily 'Lokmat'.
