Education in schools is no longer simple and straightforward as earlier. According to educational thought in modern times, the primary aim of education is to develop the capabilities, the intelligence and the reasoning power of students in various ways. To achieve this aim, it does not suffice to depend on textbooks alone for teachers, and even for parents when they help children with their studies. The importance of books, or the written word, cannot be ignored, but the use of other educational tools, too, has now become unavoidable. Taking help of these tools can make children's studies enjoyable and fun, and parents can also enjoy helping them. "Picture Reading' is one such tool. This can be used not only for children in the smaller age groups, but it can also be put to effective use when helping children in secondary schools with their study of subjects such as languages.
