Towards New Horizons Stories Without Reserve! Dr. Yashwant Thorat

I should have been a teacher. The articles helped me to travel that path and I liked the journey - not only the writing bit but also the modest recognition it brought in its wake. For a while I even toyed with attempting something more ambitious.

The articles cover a wide range of issues. Some are part of my childhood memory while others have been penned from the perspective of a participant or spectator. Interwoven are the values I was brought up with: to speak the truth, to confront intolerable ideas with equanimity, to persist no matter what the odds, to face the devils within and without, to be tolerant of ideas and faiths and to love one's country beyond measure but not blindly. I am told that some of these values are out of date and old fashioned while others need modification. Maybe. Maybe not. I have tried to live by them though not always successfully. These stories or some of them at least recount my effort to live by them.
